Puppy Training

One of Tromsø Villmarkssenter’s main ambitions is participation in dog sledding races and therefore the training of our huskies throughout the entire year is essential. Summer is time for our puppies to receive their first lessons – with your help!

After a 25-30 minutes drive from Tromsø, you will be welcomed by our guides and receive a tour of our facilities. Afterward, you will accompany an experienced handler on a 1-1.5 hour easy hike and help us train our future racing superstars, who are between 4 weeks and 7 months old. We will do different exercises to teach them teamwork with other dogs and humans.

After the training, we will serve you a delicious lunch of Bacalao, a fish dish that is part of the traditional Norwegian cuisine, around an open fire in our Gamme-Hut. A vegetarian option is available upon preliminary request.

To make your hike more comfortable, you need to wear waterproof footwear and clothing. If you’ve forgotten to bring these, you can rent them out at the centre at a nominal fee.
