Join a guided winter session at the Snowhotel Kirkenes and meet reindeer, experience the living culture of the Sámi people, and learn about their traditions through story and song.
This winter experience begins at the Snowhotel’s reindeer pen, where you’ll meet and hand‑feed reindeer while your guide shares insights about Sámi reindeer‑herding practices and Arctic wildlife. You’ll then move to a traditional lavvu (Sámi tent) set beside a campfire to hear stories from Sámi folklore and gain a deeper understanding of indigenous life in northern Scandinavia.
The session culminates with a joik performance, a distinctive vocal tradition of the Sámi people.
Afterwards, the tour continues with a guided look around the Snowhotel’s ice‑and‑snow architecture (open year‑round) before returning to the start point. The activity is available in the main winter period (1 December–30 April).
Meeting place: 12:00 by the reindeer pen behind the Snowhotel reception building. Transfer is not included.
